KW Class of 1982

The First Official Reunion

10 Years ~ July 17, 18, & 19, 1992

Planning-Preparation-Organization

After reaching out to Student Council Members from the Class of 1978, in the fall of 1990, the excitement began to get the 10th year reunion off the ground. Several reams of 8 1/2 x 11 paper were used to create an alphabetic class list.  Soon after the list was confirmed, phone calls were made to gather a committee. Within a short period of time a committee of 14 individuals agreed to work together, to locate each class member and start the planning. The goal was to obtain a current mailing address or telephone number, so that we could send out a flyer and invitation in the mail, months in advance of the venue date.

To begin the process, the committee members agreed to take a section of the class list, to help in finding as many as possible, while discussing ideas and options. After meeting several times in person, over many months, the focus materialized to move forward on the dates, budget, venue, fundraiser details, and activities.

The anticipation continued and an agreement was unified

to hold a 3-day weekend in the month of July.

The dream became a reality, and the outreach began.

Funding the Weekend

The Saturday Program Booklet

To raise necessary funds for the weekend itinerary, we decided to have a small program booklet printed, highlighting the Saturday event. The booklet was given to anyone that attended. With the sincere generosity of 39 Class of 1982 Alumni Members, and 7 corporate sponsors in the Kenmore/Tonawanda area, we were fortunate to be able to fund the varied details with more flexibility. Any class member that received the flyer and invitation were offered a chance to share life accomplishments and/or personal details about the ten years beyond high school graduation, which would be printed in the booklet. We also sold one-liners, along with ad space.  **Regrettably, the only thing missing from 1992 is images !!  If photos were taken on any of the dates, none were ever shared.  For anyone that does know of pictures out there, and you can scan and upload to a jpeg, please feel free to contact Jenelle so they can be added to this site.

    July 17, 18 & 19, 1992

    Friday Mixer

Over 500 alumni were contacted (out of 642) and we packed hundreds into the Pearl Street Bar & Grill. An astonishing turn out, the night was filled to the brim with

conversation, laughter, and very large amounts

of alcohol into the night !!!  ~ partying until 4am meant you had a phenomenal experience.

    Saturday Semi-Formal Dinner

A banquet room in The Hyatt Hotel was the place to gather for a little fancier event. Semi-formal attire adorned, as alumni attendees shared an open bar and

sit-down dinner, while they enjoyed a second night to catch up with friends.  Many brought their significant partner to share in the evening, and after coffee

and dessert, a DJ turned the tunes for everyone

to let loose, and get there dance on !

    Sunday Picnic and Family Day

We joined together at Beaver Island State Park, for a Summer afternoon of beers, sunshine, relaxing, more conversation, laughter, and fun. Then before we all knew it, the sun was setting and it was time to say farewell

until the next time. . .

    PAST YEARS

    The 'Spur of Enthusiasm !!' 35th Year ~ July 22, 2017

After experiencing a great time with our 30th in 2012, feedback began to get together for a 35th.

Once the ball got rolling, a genuine effort was made to reach out to as many as possible, through Facebook, personal groups of networking, and utilizing all of the data maintained from our contact information collected.

After review of various locations available, and with consideration of a fellow alumni, the event date was confirmed and scheduled at The Dugout Bar and Sports Complex,  located on Transit Road in Lockport.

We were a small group in a casual setting, celebrating the evening with drinks, late night munchies, music on the jukebox, and spirited conversation. As with each reunion, a special table was set up to remember our classmates that are no longer with us, displaying their names and pictures, honoring them with candles and flowers.

For all those that attended, much joy was shared !  There were some that had not attended any prior reunions, a few that traveled quite a distance to join in the fun, and several that stayed late to catch up on the years gone by.
